Hello Sigma community. Welcome to this week’s Building in Public update.

As the year winds down, we are still very much in build mode. This week was about improving how students learn, strengthening the systems behind the scenes, and taking early steps toward widening access to tech education. Not everything we worked on is flashy, but everything here feeds into a better experience for our community.

Here is what moved forward!

Content We Shipped This Week

Content continues to be one of the clearest ways we share perspective, learning, and culture with our students.

This week, we released:

Alongside these, we've continued planning and scripting upcoming videos and formats that are a little more explorative than usual, so keep a lookout for that!

Curriculum Improvements

On the curriculum side, the focus this week was clarity, relevance, and tightening fundamentals.

Key work included:

  • Reviewing LMS course submissions to ensure quality and consistency
  • Continued cleanup of the CSP course, completing earlier planned changes
  • Improving Module 1 content by simplifying slides and removing unnecessary fluff
  • Advancing work on a realistic software developer roadmap to help students better understand long-term progression
  • Developing new learning challenges and lesson materials to strengthen practical understanding

These changes are meant to make learning feel less overwhelming, especially for students just starting out.

Progress on the Learning Platform

Work on the learning platform continued steadily, with an emphasis on structure and readiness.

This week, we focused on:

  • Preparing and reviewing course content for LMS rollout
  • Improving curriculum guidelines to ensure a single, clear source of truth
  • Refining lesson structure so content translates cleanly from teaching materials to the platform

The goal remains the same. A platform that supports learning properly, not just one that looks good on launch.

Expanding Access Through Community Partnerships

Beyond internal improvements, we continued exploring ways to extend impact outside our immediate ecosystem.

We are currently:

  • Reaching out to nonprofits and community organisations to explore collaboration opportunities
  • Looking into sponsorship and partnership models aimed at improving access to tech education
  • Evaluating how these collaborations can create meaningful pathways rather than surface-level initiatives

Nothing is finalised yet, and we are being intentional about moving slowly and thoughtfully here. When there is something concrete to share, we will.

Student Experience and Community Work

A number of quieter but important improvements continued in the background, all aimed at making student life smoother and more supportive.

This included:

  • Ongoing refinement of onboarding processes
  • Continued development of guides and playbooks to support student progress
  • Improvements to how student journeys and touchpoints are tracked internally

These are not headline updates, but they matter day to day.

This will officially be the final #buildinginpublic installation of 2025. See you guys next year!
